Bronze Bream Fishing Trace Rigging and Tips

• Rod: Opt for a medium surf rod or a dedicated 13ft rock and surf rod capable of handling larger fish like musselcracker.
• Reel: Pair your rod with a suitable reel that can withstand the strain of casting and battling strong fish.
• Line: Use a strong braided leader of around 70lb for abrasion resistance, especially when fishing near rocks.
• Sinker: A 2–4 oz sinker is recommended.
• Baiting: Always opt for fresh bait, as bronze bream are quite picky eaters. Thread the prawn onto the hook, ensuring the hook point is visible, and secure it with cotton. Attach a piece of crayfish to the side for extra appeal.
• Casting: Aim to cast your bait into areas where you suspect fish are feeding, particularly near deep holes or ledges close to rocks.
• Bites: When you feel a bite, gently reel in any slack line to maintain tension without pulling the fish off. If the fish pulls flat, reel in quickly and strike.
• Best time: Fish during a pushing tide, especially in the first two hours after the tide has turned.
• Location: If an area becomes unproductive, explore new spots; sometimes a change in location can yield better results.
• Patience: Fishing for bronze bream requires patience, particularly under less-than-ideal conditions.
