The egg sinker serves to:

  • Bring bait to a specific depth while allowing free sliding on the line.
  • Aid in bottom fishing by carrying bait down effectively.
  • Present bait naturally, enhancing realism for fish.
  • Reduce resistance, enabling fish to take bait without immediate weight feel, improving hook-setting chances.
  • Minimise snagging due to its rounded shape.
  • Drift naturally in currents, keeping bait in the strike zone.
  • Enhance bite detection through increased sensitivity.

Usage in a slip-sinker rig:

  1. Thread the main line through the sinker.
  2. Optionally add a bead for knot protection.
  3. Tie a barrel swivel to the line's end to stop the sinker.
  4. Attach a leader line with a hook to the swivel.

This setup allows the sinker to rest on the bottom while the bait moves freely.
