Salmon / Cob / Kabeljou Fishing Kit

Salmon, also called Kob or Kabeljou, is common along South African coasts and known for its size and strong fight.

It lives in coastal waters, estuaries, and shallow areas near sandbanks and bays. Dusky Kob migrate seasonally to spawn near KwaZulu-Natal reefs. They can be caught using bait or artificial lures.

Fishing limits vary: 1 fish per person from shore or estuaries east of Cape Agulhas, and 5 per person from boats offshore or shore west of Cape Agulhas. Only one Kob over 110cm is allowed daily. Size limits help protect the species, which is valued for its taste.
